Titan, Suishou No Fune, Malkuth $8/$10

Whow!!! How did I overlook this one? One of Tokyo’s finest psychedelic outfits, Suishou no Fune, are in town tonight with trippy instrumental Brooklynites Titan and No-Neck side project Malkuth. l Titan play Hawkwindy space rock tip from a Kraut rock groove perspective with some exquisitely abrasive noise guitar intensity on top. Malkuth apparently play with black metal. Suishou no Fun look like a trio of Keiji Hainos and the cryptic murmur of their spacious and mysterious minimalism is not unlike Ben Chasney’s work on the shimmering beautiful numbers. As for the freak-outs, their wild cacophony is in the finest of Japanese traditions. After witnessing a phenomenal conclusion to LSD March’s show a couple of weeks ago I can hardly wait for more aesthetically correct ear sustenance from the land of the rising sun. I can’t stop playing their very autumny tunes today.
