JONATHAN TOUBIN threw down four straight sweaty hours of the finest soul and r&b dance 45s – paused for the 1AM contest where Toubin and Mighty Fine’s STEVE MYERS got on the mics and the judges from CMJ Music Marathon bands made selections from one of the most unusual assortments of contestants yet. The jury included SIMON RAYMONDE (Bella Union/Cocteau Twins), Jacco Gardner, CHRIS SHAW (EX-CULT), CHRISTIAN PESLAK (Saint Rich), MARIA JUUR (Maria Minerva), SHANNON CORNETT (tour manager), and SANDRA VU (SISU/Dum Dum Girls). The first place winner danced a hole in his pants and walked away with $100 in cash while 2nd place wound up with a $75 Metropolis Vintage shopping spree. After the contest everybody got back down to business at yet another classic edition of this classic party.
