Kenny and the Kasuals “Journey to Tyme” (United Artists, 1966): NY Night Train YouTube Party Platter
NY Night Train just started uploading an original 45rpm vinyl record every day on YouTube – the NYNT Daily Party Platter Playlist Hit up NYNT YouTube channel every day to see what’s cookin’…
I’m on my way! I’m getting so excited to take a journey to time to return to my Texas stomping grounds this weekend to do a gig at Transmission Entertainment’s Last Splash Swim Club! And I need a fix of some (inter)stellar Texas psychedelic garage rock! Today’s masterpiece is from one of the more enduring lone star bands ever, Kenny and the Kasual – who formed in Dallas in the early 1960s and kept rockin it up in the punk/new wave era and still reunite to do their thing today… The Kasuals’ 1960s records are as amazing as they are difficult to obtain. The early records capture these teenagers blazing through r&b standards with the best of ’em and by the time “Journey To Tyme” comes around they were under the contagious spell of the 13th Floor Elevators. This is heavy stuff! Supreme and burning, this one is destined to be trapped within the walls of time” for as long as people listen to music!

also I just ordered a book these guys wrote about their journey: “Stomp and Shout: The All-Too-Real Story of Kenny and the Kasuals and the Garage Band Revolution of the Sixties”:

You’re listening to my daily addition to the New York Night Train Party Platter playlist. Each track here is recorded directly from the original 45 (no bootlegs, reproductions, etc) to give you an idea of what the real deal authentic vinyl sounds like. COME BACK EVERY DAY FOR A NEW FIX! Because the records pass so quickly at my dance parties, this channel is an attempt to stop and focus on one record at a time in hopes that it’ll turn you on to the artists, tracks, labels, etc. I’m just hipping myself to a lot of these records for the first time as well – so you can view this as a part of our journey to learning more about cool old records together! But mostly I hope this music moves you as much as it moves me.
Get your enjoys,
