New Music Festival: Seikazoku, Acid Mothers Temple SWR, Shrinp Wark,
Zoffy, Ruins Alone, RonRuins, Akaten, Zubi Zuba X – Tonic
$15
Depending
on who you are, this is either the ultimate dream or nightmare bill.
Since I’m writing this I guess you can imagine where I stand
on this collection of eight of the more interesting acts from one
of the world’s finest underground music scenes. The central
stars here are the exciting and prolific Tatsuya
Yoshida and the tripped-out
Acid Mothers Temple. Seikazoku is Yoshida with Temple
priests Tsuyama Atsushi and Kawabata Makoto. Five more of the bands,
Ruins Alone, RonRuins, Ataken, Zubi Zuba X, and Shrinp War, also
feature Yoshida as the dizzying and masterful drum eye of the hurricane.
Acid Mothers Temple, and another of their many side projects, Zoffy,
will bring the hallucinogenic electrocution. Is there anything here
that you wouldn’t come out for by itself?
