Moon and Moon, MC Trachiotomy w/Lefty Parker and Microshards, Lycaon Pictus, Health – Cake Shop 10:30 PM $7

The late show at the Cake Shop is the shizzlula not only because it’s the first of a series of MC Trachiotomy’s New York shows in the next week, but because of the freaky and fine local talent present. MC Trachiotomy, as you may or may know, is the former Crash Worship vocalist with a slew of international solo releases over the years – including his latest on New York Night Train with his friend and regular touring buddy Mr. Quintron. Trach, his partner Lefty Parker, and Microshards (Jamie Kalal), are all original members of Quintron’s 9th Ward Marching band have both been key figures in the New Orleans underground music scene for well over a decade. This unique conglomeration is something you don’t see every day – Trachiotomy’s dada rap, Parker’s funky experimentation, and Kalal’s Microshards almost post-industrial assault – a wild and wooly 9th Ward house party brought to your NYC doorstep. Moon and Moon is the rapidly expanding brain-child of charming Brookyln artist Will Lemon, who’s typically way too busy on tour with Devendra Banhart or out of town screen-printing directly onto models for Mac Cosmetics to perform. Lemon’s theatrical and ambitious concepts are increasingly textured and abstract. While no comparison would do them justice – think of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown taking a stab at Bitches Brew. Lycoan Pictus is a very aggressive and art damaged trio featuring the talents of Aaron Diskin, the former singer for Nick Zinner’s old band, Challenge of the Future. Their untamed live performances are pure sweaty vigor. Very much well worth enduring the Saturday Ludlow experience for.
