Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Jackie Robinson Park 7PM FREE

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings perform a very lovingly purist homage to soul in the era just before the genre started to go down the tubes. Augusta, GA native Jones owns an uncommonly powerful set of pipes and the Dap Kings, Daptone’s house band, are very proficient and a bit on the polished side, but can get as funky as they should be. Either way, the whole package is something to see, particularly in this setting (c’mon, ambience is half the game!). Tonight’s free show takes place in Harlem’s historic WPA-era Jackie Robinson Park (former Colonial Park).
