Brooklyn Pranksters Heckle Glam Band

A scuffle ensued Tuesday night between members of the bands Vietnam and the Living Things at the One Model Management holiday party at Hiro Ballroom that made Page 6 of today’s New York Post.

It all started when a member of Vietnam wandered up to the stage and pumped his fist in jest to the music. The singer for the Living Things, mistaking the Vietnam member for an enthusiastic fan, put the mic in the Vietnam member’s face. The Vietnam member took the opportunity to give the band his opinion:

“I really liked you at the Special Olympics”

To which the singer, grabiing for a witty retort, replied “Thank you Mr. Muppet.” In the meant-time he pulled the Vietnam member on the stage and asked in the mic, “you wanna come up on stage and sing with us?” Before waiting for an answer, the singer proceeded to kick the Vietnam member in the ribs and the security immediately escorted the Vietnam member out of the club.

When asked earlier today about his comment, the Vietnam member replied, “They looked like a bunch of 35-year old ladies, or Mick Mars from Motley Crue. They looked silly… like fools. In no way did what they were doing appear to be honest or genuine. And they sounded third-rate version of some cheap LA rock band.” He continued, “I called to apologize... to the Special Olympics Organization because they do good work."

When asked if this there’s a band war ensuing, the Vietnam member replied, “We wouldn’t start a war with a band we don’t respect.”

One eyewitness claims that, when confronted by other Vietnam members after the show, members of The Living Things appeared to be frightened and backed down. Did the bullying mascara-smeared punk singer appear to back up his band during any of this? The eyewitness claims he hid backstage throughout.

Today’s “Page 6” account:

Heckler Havoc

A ROCK rivalry exploded into violence at Hiro Ballroom the other night when members of the band the Living Things stomped on a member of Brooklyn rock group Vietnam, who heckled their performance. The Vietnam member seemed to be begging for the beat-down when he grabbed the mic from Living Things singer Lillian Berlin and said, “I really liked you guys in the Special Olympics, which prompted Berlin to invite him on stage to sing. But things turned ugly when Berlin and his Livings Things mates stomped on the drunken interloper, who was escorted out by security. The on-stage chaos was the highlight of One Model Management’s holiday party attended by Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and modelizing ‘80s rocker Bryan Adams.
